On May 21, in Bengaluru, a young woman, aged 22, lost her life by drowning when the car she was traveling in with her family became stranded in a flooded underpass. The woman, identified as an Infosys employee, was rescued too late by alert bystanders, firefighters, and emergency services. Fortunately, they successfully saved five other individuals and the driver who were also trapped inside the vehicle.
After the incident, the victim, as well as the individuals who were saved, were promptly taken to St Martha’s Hospital. Unfortunately, the doctors at the hospital pronounced the woman dead. Upon receiving news of the incident, the recently elected Chief Minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah, visited the hospital to assess the situation. He announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the deceased’s family and ensured that the hospitalized patients would receive free medical care.
