Later it was made a Part-C category state. At that time the area of ​​Himachal Pradesh was 10,451 square miles and the population was 9,83,367. After that in the year 1966 ‘Punjab States Reorganization Act’ was passed and Kangra, Una, Hamirpur, Kullu, Lahaul-Spiti, #Shimla, Nalagarh, Kandaghat, Dalhousie etc. areas were included in Himachal. With this the #area of ​​Himachal became 55,673 square kilometers. This was followed by geographical, social, cultural and linguistic reunion.

In 1971, Himachal was given full statehood. 25th January is a memorable day for the people of Himachal. On this day in the year 1971, the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had granted full statehood to Himachal while addressing thousands of people from the historic ridge ground of Shimla. Snow was falling on the ridge ground when this announcement was made. With this Himachal became the 18th state of the Republic of India. After that Himachal kept moving towards development. Since then many development works have been done in this state but still this state is also facing many challenges. It is considered the leading state of the country in power generation. Many states are also illuminated by the electricity here.
