Google is discontinuing free snacks, laundry services, and other employee perks plans to announce cost-cutting initiatives amid a wave of layoffs. According to sources, the cost of the perks provided to Google employees has risen significantly for the company. As a result, Google has decided to cut some of its expensive expenditures.

Google’s company-wide benefits, such as free food from micro kitchens, laundry services, massages, and business lunches, are being removed.

Google will also postpone hiring choices to save money. According to a Business Insider report, Google’s Chief Financial Officer, Ruth Porat, stated that the firm must use finances properly to focus on higher-priority tasks.

Insider has obtained a copy of a statement sent to Google workers on Friday by Porat, in which he stated that the company will freeze recruiting and reallocate teams to concentrate on higher-priority initiatives.

According to the memo, the company would no longer invest in personal technology such as laptop computers. Porat stated that the perks will be adjusted based on the needs of each office location and the trends observed there.

Google is considering closing the micro kitchen on days with less traffic and altering the timing of some workout programs based on usage patterns. The company claims that the benefit cuts are meant to create savings to fund other improvements, such as machine utilization, even if they may appear to Google employees to be a significant change.
