In the Hangzhou Asian Games, India’s Harmilan Bains delivered an impressive performance in the women’s 800m race, securing a silver medal. This marked her second medal at the Games. Hailing from Punjab and at 25 years old, she recorded a remarkable time of 2:03.75 in a fiercely competitive race.
The gold medal was claimed by Tharushi Dissanayaka of Sri Lanka, who crossed the finish line with a time of 2:03.20. Meanwhile, China’s Chunyu Wang secured the bronze with a timing of 2:03.90.
Prior to this achievement, Bains had already secured a silver medal in the women’s 1500m race during this edition of the Games.
Another Indian athlete, Chanda, participated in the 800m race as well, finishing in seventh place with a time of 2:05.69.
