ALAMPUR JOGULAMBA TEMPLE | GADWAL

In the Telangana state, Alampur is a peaceful town located on the banks of the Tungabhadra River. Alampur is regarded as Srisailam’s western entrance. Here, a magnificent temple and the remains of an earlier temple serve as examples of Badami Chalukyan architecture. A large number of South Indian dynasties governed the area. At the Jogulamba temple, the main deities are Jogulamba and Balabrahmeshwara.

The fifth Shakti Peetha of the 18 shakti peetams in the nation is thought to be the goddess Jogulamba. With a scorpion, frog, and lizard perched on her head, Goddess Jogulamba is depicted in this image sitting on a corpse. She appears as a ferocious goddess in a naked avatar with her tongue extended; as such, she is known as Jogulamba. This goddess grants Siddhi in yoga. This word is a changed form of Yogula Amma in Telugu which means Mother of Yogis.

A well-known myth states that in the sixth century, a great saint by the name of Rasa Siddha who was thought to be connected to the Chalukya king Pulakesi II, and who had the ability to turn base metal into gold was responsible for building any temples known as “Nava Brahmas.” There are nine temples here, and the nine names of Siva are said to be the names of therapeutic herbs proposed by Rasa Siddha. The Swarga Brahma Temple, the Padma Brahma Temple, the Arka Brahma Temple, the Vishva Temple, the Bala Temple, the Garuda Temple, and the Taraka Temple are among them.

The Siddha Rasarnavam is a tantric work one which claims that if upasana is carried out in accordance with the recommended Tantra, Mercury will ooze from the mouth of Mother Jogulamba, the navel of Ganapati, the Thighs of Subramanya, and the Linga of Bala Brahma. This Mercury can be transformed into gold using medicinal herbs.
