After 23 days of hospitalization, actor Taraka Ratna passes away. The actor collapsed at the padayatra of his cousin, TDP politician Nara Lokesh, in Kuppam, and despite the best efforts of doctors, he did not survive.

Actor Taraka Ratna passed away on Saturday at Bengaluru’s Narayana hospital after a 23-day battle. He was 40 years old and was survived by his wife Alekya Reddy and their daughter. His last rituals will probably take place on Monday and his body is being moved by ambulance to Hyderabad.

The actor, who is the son of Mohana Krishna and the grandson of the great N.T. Rama Rao, collapsed on January 27 in Kuppam as a result of heart issues while taking part in his cousin and TDP politician Nara Lokesh’s padayatra. He was sent right away to a nearby hospital in Kuppam, and then for better medical care, to Bengaluru. Despite best efforts, he was unable to make any progress, and on Saturday, after spending 23 days in the ICU, he passed away.

His daughter and his wife, Alekhya Reddy were at his side as he died away in the hospital. His condition had reportedly improved recently, and doctors from the US had also rushed in for treatment, although he could not survive.

Taraka Ratna made his Telugu cinema debut in 2002 with Okato Number Kurradu. His cinematic debut was a phenomenon since nine films with him in the lead were released on the same day. He appeared in over 20 films, including Yuvaratna, Bhadradri Ramudu, Amaravathi, and Nandeeswarudu. Despite the fact that his debut picture was a musical blockbuster, he did not have much success. Taraka Ratna recently appeared in the online series 9 hours.

Condolence messages flooded in from relatives and the film industry grieving his untimely demise. Among those who expressed condolences were his uncle and former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, and actor Chiranjeevi.
